63,000-TON LNG CARRIER FROM THE MIDDLE EAST ARRIVES AT THI VAI PORT, SECURING FUEL SUPPLY FOR POWER GENERATION

According to updated information, on the morning of March 10, the LNG carrier FAT’H AL KHAIR safely arrived at port after completing its international voyage. The LNG cargo onboard is equivalent to approximately 87 million Sm³ of natural gas, playing a significant role in supplementing fuel supply for the national power system.

LNG Transportation Journey from the Middle East to Vietnam

The LNG shipment was loaded on February 26 in the Middle East and transported by a specialized LNG carrier through multiple international shipping routes before arriving in Vietnam.

Notably, the vessel passed through the Strait of Hormuz before military tensions in the Middle East escalated, allowing the voyage to proceed without disruption. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes, through which a large portion of global oil and gas supplies is transported.

The safe arrival of the LNG carrier highlights the resilience of the global energy supply chain, even as the Middle East continues to experience geopolitical tensions.

LNG to Be Regasified After Arrival

Upon arrival at Thi Vai LNG Terminal, the entire LNG cargo will be transferred into the regasification system, converting it from liquid form into natural gas.

This gas will then be supplied to power plants in southern Vietnam, contributing to fuel availability for electricity generation amid rising energy demand in the country.

Thi Vai LNG Terminal is currently one of Vietnam’s key LNG infrastructure hubs, playing a crucial role in the national energy development strategy and fuel supply diversification.

Positive Signal for Vietnam’s LNG Market in 2026

The successful arrival of the first LNG shipment of the year is considered a positive signal for Vietnam’s LNG import activities in 2026.

Amid ongoing volatility in the global energy market—driven by geopolitical factors, logistics challenges, and increasing demand—securing a stable LNG supply is essential for national energy security.

Additionally, LNG import activities reflect the continued growth of global energy supply chains and international maritime transport, particularly in the field of liquefied gas transportation by specialized vessels.
